Why this window, and not a guess
Big Billion Days is not tied to a fixed calendar date. It is timed to the festive run-up, which moves each year, so the sale drifts with it. That is why the honest answer is a window rather than a day — and why the pattern below is worth more than any single prediction.

The earliest opening on record is 23 September 2022 (2022); the latest is 16 October 2020 (2020), an outlier from a disrupted year. Strip that outlier and every edition has begun inside a two-and-a-half week band from late September.
Two things in that table are worth more than the average. First, the sale keeps getting longer — 6, 6, 8, 8, 8, 10, 10 days across the seven editions, a clean climb from six days to ten. Second, the two most recent editions started earlier than the three before them. Both point the same way: plan for late September rather than October, and do not assume you have only a long weekend to decide.
What to do before it starts
- Add what you want to your wishlist now. Prices on wishlisted items are easier to track, and stock on genuinely discounted units goes within hours.
- Check which bank is the sale partner when it is announced. The instant discount is card-specific and is usually the largest single saving on expensive items.
- Get your exchange quote early. The trade-in value for your old device is assessed the same way year-round; only the bonus changes during the sale.
